Matthew J. Zahr is an associate professor in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. From 2016-2018, he was the Luis W. Alvarez Postdoctoral Fellow at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He received a M.S. and Ph.D. in 2016 from Stanford University in Computational and Mathematical Engineering under the supervision of Charbel Farhat and a B.S. in 2011 from the University of California, Berkeley in Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research expertise and interests lie in the design and application of numerical methods to solve important problems that arise in science, engineering, and medicine.

Akshay Thakur

Akshay Thakur is a graduate student in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned his M.S. in 2023. His research focuses on developing numerical modeling techniques by integrating numerical methods with machine learning approaches to address nonlinear dynamical systems.

George Pan

Xianyu (George) Pan is a graduate student in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He received an M.S. in Advanced Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London and a B.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University, with minors in Mathematics and Economics. His research interests include high-order implicit shock tracking, mesh collapsing, and multi-material shock propagation.

He received a M.S. from Federal University of Ceará (Brazil) in 2022. His research interests include in high-order implicit shock tracking and PDE-constrained optimization.

She was a graduate student at Clarkson from Jan 2022 - May 2023, received a M.S. in 2020 from Xi'an Jiaotong University and a B.S. in 2017 from China University of Mining and Technology.

She received a M.S. in 2024 from Washington University in St. Louis in Mechanical Engineering and B.S. in 2022 from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen in Applied Mathematics.
